Would like to hear some of your ideas on why most of us feel a kinship to certain types of animals. For me it's wolves! Over the last ten years or so I have surrounded myself with them- wolf pictures, figurines, etc.. Not only do I love seeing them everywhere I look, I seem to need it. I love ALL animals but there's a special connection I feel to wolves. I can't even begin to explain here the feeling I get when I look into their eyes!!
Much of my collection is figurines of Native American women with wolves by their sides.

I love dogs. I probably prefer them to cats because I'm allergic to the feline species. I've not been around cats much. The dogs I've known are so willing to be companionable.

At different times growing up, I would favor one animal over another in jewelry. For example, I had a marble penguine on a chain for a necklace and it meant a lot to me.

I like elephants, though I was very disappointed when i saw one up close at the zoo for the first time and its skin was gray. In my mind, elephants were pink. I was very depressed that they were not pink, after all.

I love Lions, Owls, Cats and Dogs. :) Canaries, too. I had a canary that LITERALLY sang from sun-up to sun-down. He died this past summer. :( His name was "Westley." I named him after the movie, "The Princess Bride." His nickname was "My Sweet Little Westley Prince." :p My niece and nephew had a canary for a time these past few months. The kids decided it would be nice to pay tribute to "Westley" by naming their new canary after him. We called him "Westley the 2nd!" :p (Problem is my sister didn't realize at the time that it was a female!)

I'm sure Westley will make a fine princess, too.

:D I kept telling my sister those people at the pet store didn't know what they were talking about. I told her it was a girl over and over again. I knew it was female b/c it never sang a note and didn't have colorful plumage.
The second I saw it, I knew it was ill as well. They sold her a $120 sick, female canary! Months later she took it back to the pet store, telling them it was sick, etc. They said they'd get it help, but I highly doubt that. They were the ones that sold her a sick bird in the first place. :( My sister wanted me to take her, but I didn't like the idea of worrying over another sick bird. (I really did OBSESS over my bird's happiness;) ). My poor Westley was very sick for a couple months. At first, he was just acting WEIRD. He thought I was his mate! (Birds really do do this with their owners). It was really funny, but then he started breathing weird and lost the feathers around his eyes. Never sang either. The ONE avian vet I found couldn't see him for one month and were charging an arm and a leg. Instead, I found an avian vet site and bought medicine from them; herbal remedies. I paid something like $30 overnight shipping! And stupid me forgot that when I ordered it, it was a Saturday; NO MAIL the next day! I learned that lesson really fast.

Well, I'm sure he's happy and healthy again. Grandma's taking care of him now.

Sorry for babbling. I'm an animal nut. ALL my pets are royalty. My cat ("Wendy Moira Angela Darling") and my dog ("Maddie Kate Scarlett O'Hara") are princesses, while our other cat is a royal pain in the @ss!! :D

A man owned a parrot that was lonely. he asked for a lady parrot. He pestered the owner day after day. The man finally caved in and borrowed a female parrot. He let his parrot know that he'd better enjoy this, because he had to pay $50 just to take her home for one night!

The man covered the cage and went in the next room. He heard squawking and returned to the cage to see feathers flying. He uncovered the cage to see his parrot pulling feathers off the other.

"What are you doing?" The owner demanded.

The bird said, "For fifty dollars, I want her naked! Naked!"

:D

OMG, that's funny. :p

My mother is forwarded jokes by family and friends all the time. Her Mom just sent her a really funny joke. I HAVE to share it:

Three men, one German, one Japanese and a hillbilly were sitting naked in a sauna. Suddenly there was a beeping sound.

The German pressed his forearm and the beep stopped. The others looked at him questioningly. "That was my pager," he said, "I have a micro chip under the skin of my arm."

A few minutes later a phone rang. The Japanese fellow lifted his palm to his ear. When he finished he explained, "That was my mobile phone. I have a micro chip in my hand."

The hillbilly felt decidedly low tech, but not to be outdone he decided he had to do something just as impressive. He stepped out of the sauna and went to the bathroom. He returned with a piece of toilet paper hanging from his behind. The others raised their eyebrows and stared at him. The hillbilly finally said..."Well, will you look at that, I'm getting a fax."

That's funny. Keeping up with the Jones's. Or, in this case, keeping up with the Johns!
