President Bush came to a Baltimore Home Depot this week in Maryland to speak about his campaign and the economy.

As you all may know (and I'm sure some of you wish you didn't, heh heh) I try to stand behind our President as best I can during these trying times.

But during the President's speech, he made a comment to the effect of..."As we remember the Christmas story... we remember the beginning... (birth of Jesus) which brought us the promise of justice..."

Whaaaaa???? Huh???? Those weren't his exact words, I wish I had them, but that was the gist of it.. the birth of Jesus brought us the promise of justice. Well, that sounds good I suppose if your under heavy criticism for invading Iraq... but...

I always thought the Christmas story brought us the promise of peace, as in, brought us the Prince of Peace....
not the Prince of Justice!

So, I'm more than slightly annoyed President Bush tried to put a justice spin on the nativity scene... somehow relating 911, the war on Iraq and all the related violence to be revenged... according to Jesus, the Prince of Peace - I don't THINK so!

I guess this bothers me because I see a compassionate God, not a judging God... My God would send humanity a Prince of Peace, like Jesus... and others like him... Buddha, Muhhammad, etc.

Two thumbs down, President Bush... you need to do better than that! Jesus, and other religious leaders like him, said love your enemies, not perpetrate revenge on your enemies.

(I thought we were there to eliminate terrorism... not seek justice...???)

Hey Karen,

I'd like to make a disclaimer here. Geo. W. was born in Texas ,but educated in Connecticut or somewhere.....and even when he was governor of Texas....well it's a weak governor state.

Sorry, he's often a little off the mark. I think he must have skipped Sunday school to eat donuts down the street....and he thinks we did too!

Pray for Peace. Pray for GeoW.

It's really hard for me to stand behind a man who, in my opinion, is doing nothing but hurting our country. From the war in Iraq to our environment, I think all he cares about is power and money. He takes what he wants that will benefit him and his wealthy friends from his religion and ignores everything else. He says he is working towards peace but he sure is doing it in a round about way. Everytime I hear something on the news or read a story in the newspaper about the things he does and says, I just want to ask him those four little words, "What would Jesus do".

Well, that sounds good I suppose if your under heavy criticism for invading Iraq... but... We all have a one-track mind, don't we? We see support for our cause everywhere we look...like everything reminding us of food when we are hungry. George Bush is just seeing the celebration of the birth of Christ as a promise of justice because he's focused on a promise of justice.

Forgive his perspective. It's all just politics. I'm sure he doesn't mean to pull Jesus into our disputes with other countries and wave him around like the American Flag to gain a few points with the patriots. He's just seeing food because he's hungry.

Well, Im no expert on Politics by any means...

The one thing I was somewhat happy about, as far as the US (and others) going over there... was hopefully a reduction of the human rights abuses going on in that Country.

The other thing to remember is it is an oil Country. Many people were stigmatized by the hurricane, I know home sales abruptly stopped with no trigger from interest rates..

People just were scared by what it's like to be in America with no power. Unfortunately, with our dependence on foreign oil, we have to continue to meddle in their affairs... or I suppose we would all starve to death here....

So, President Bush being hungry, is somewhat of an analogy.

It's a tough situation... but I wonder when we will all wake up and say, hey, our entire civilization is in danger because of our dependence on foreign oil... When the public concern over-rides those power bases who thrive because of the oil industry.. that's when we'll have the beginning of a resolution.

Sincerely, Karen
